About Max

Not everyone knows Max Goldsmith. Even fewer people know about the night that 5 different Andrews athletes comprised two different relay teams and set 2 new national records in high school sports. Here are just a few of many quotes regarding the man and the coach.

Max Goldsmith is a true living legend in the world of track and field. His contributions and participation are close to unparalleled. Anything that can document his profound impact on Texas sports and the history of Andrews High School athletics is a worthy goal.   – M Wallace, Producer

…and track legend Ted Nelson had this to say of his Mustangs career from 1959-61:

“It was a special time. I never would have been able to have a career in coaching without Coach Goldsmith. He never yelled at you, he never did all those things you think of. He was just one of those guys you wanted to run through the wall for.” – Ted Nelson,

More biographical information about Coach Goldsmith will be added to this page in the coming days. However, there is no doubt this man and his leadership are worth documenting.
